So how did I get here?

Back in 2010, I had my first baby. Little did I know the journey I was about to embark on with feeding her. Let’s just say, I truly understand first hand how your confidence can be shattered- for a long time, once you have a fussy eater.

As a first time mum, when my daughter refused food, I really took it personally…like I had done something wrong…like I hadn’t cooked it properly…or made it tasty enough. I felt like a failure, and maybe you can relate.

After a few refusals, I usually gave up on the food. I ended up being so worried that she wouldn’t like something, that I had basically decided it in my head before I even gave it to…. like I almost created her own story for her, before she did.

I think my lowest point was when she ended up in hospital and we literally couldn’t get her to eat anything, because not only was she sick, she had low blood sugar levels and was super fussy.

I felt completely lost as to how to get her to start eating and trying new foods, I truly felt like I was failing as a mum, and you may be feeling a little this way too.

It’s unfair how much our self confidence and self worth gets wrapped up in what our child eats. It’s impossible not to compare yourself to others - it’s human nature.

Since this time, I have worked hard - both on the inside (personally) and on the outside (in my home) to set up an environment where EATS WELL!.

Fast forward 10 years and the food stress is gone. We have made tremendous progress…and I now know what I should have done ALL ALONG.
